My pants was white but everything changed when a cupcake icing attacked it… ugh I mean… spilled on it. Now my friends at church were looking on it and asking “What happened?” or some said “Yan kasi katakawan mo eh.”. My friend tried to cover it by putting his hankerchief over the stain but it doesn’t a fact that it’s still there.

Just like us.

No matter how we might look cute, pure or innocent, we fall short (Romans 3:23;). We commit sin. Being the most generous citizen doesn’t exempt us from being sinners. Our sins might look big or small…

A stain will always be a ( S ) T A ( I N )

Besides, we are more than just a stained pants, WE’RE FILTHY RAGS (Isaiah 64:4).

But hey, our ancestors (well that’s too much but you get my point) didn’t invent detergents for no reason. It is used to get rid or unwanted cupcake icing on my beloved clothes.

However, our Heavenly Father didn’t just remove these “stains” but He also created us a new identity (2 Corinthians 5:17). As a result, we are now the sons and daughters of God. (2 Corinthians 6:18). We made holy and righteous in His Eyes. (1 Thessalonians 2:10; Hebrews 10:10). Through His blood, we are now sanctified.

"How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!" -Hebrews 9:14 (NIV)

So are we going to live like stained clothes? By no means!

"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." -Romans 6:4 (NIV)

Now we know that we are more than conquerors in Christ, LET US DRAW OUR HEARTS TOWARDS GOD (Hebrews 10:22) AND LET OUR LIGHT SHINE FOR HIS GLORY (Matthew 5:16) <3

(Daming naisip nadumihan lang ng pulang icing yung pantalon.)

May He allow you to gaze at the cross every day of your life. No matter what happens, come what may, may our God open your eyes, loosen the grip of your hands, and loose your tongue to say, “Father, you make beauty, even out of ugly things. You do all things, you do all things, you do all things well.”

Tenth Avenue North: The Overflow Devo (Day 7)

Our God is a redeemer. It’s who He is. It’s what He does. He redeems. Which means, among other things, “to make up for. to restore worth or value.” Jesus makes up for our lack. He restores our value. By dying for us, He gives us a value and worth that we could have never had or achieved on our own.

Tenth Avenue North: The Overflow Devo (Day 6)

Minsan hindi ko malaman kung concern o nangingielam lang.

Three things that I realized from fifteen year-old me (as I what saw from my old devo notebooks):

Christ came to forgive and to free us. I hope you know that, deep down. You can screw up and know that there is always mercy to rise again. And not only that, but you can know that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is living inside you, So you don’t have to do those things you hate anymore.

Tenth Avenue North: The Overflow Devo (Day 4)

But the tough part is realizing that in order to get the fullest joy, and the greatest pleasure, you have to do things His way. You have to wait. Often times you have to go without. But you go without so that you can get something better.

Tenth Avenue North: The Overflow Devo (Day 3)

  • Jacob was a cheater;
  • Peter had a temper;
  • David had an affair;
  • Noah got drunk;
  • Jonah ran away from God;
  • Paul was a murderer;
  • Gideon was insecure;
  • Miriam was gossiper;
  • Martha was a nervous wreck;
  • Thomas was a doubter;
  • Sarah was impatient;
  • Elijah was depressed;
  • Moses stuttered;
  • Zaccheus was short;
  • Abraham was old and
  • Lazarus was dead.
  • God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Rob your enemy of their ability to offend you, by gladly taking the full brunt of their attack. It is then, and only then, that hostility is defeated and love conquers death.

Tenth Avenue North: The Overflow Devo (Day 2)

  • My friggin' netbook: Oh your vacation has just started? Let me shut down every 15 minutes so I can waste your time and piss you off.
